Cũng được sử dụng trong giao thức bảo mật (SSH), giao thức lớp ổ cắm an toàn (SSL), giao thức bảo mật lớp vận chuyển (TLS), giao thức giao dịch điện tử an toàn (SET) Giao thức vận chuyển thời gian thực an toàn (SRTP).

d160 form

SHA-1 (Secure Hash Algorithm 1) is a cryptographic hash function which takes an input of any length and produces a 160-bit (20-byte) output. It is the most widely used of the existing SHA hash functions, and is employed in several widely used security applications and protocols. SHA-1 was developed by the National Security Agency (NSA) in 1995 as part of the Digital Signature Algorithm, and is described in the U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 180-1.

SHA-1 produces a 160-bit message digest that is used to verify the integrity of data. A message digest is a cryptographic hash of a data file or message which is used to verify its authenticity and integrity. The message digest is calculated by applying the SHA-1 algorithm to the data. The message digest is then stored in a separate file or transmitted along with the data. When the recipient of the data receives the message digest, the SHA-1 algorithm is applied to the data to produce a new message digest. If the new message digest matches the one that was sent with the data, then it is assumed that the data has not been modified in transit.

SHA-1 is a secure hash algorithm that is considered to be secure against collision attacks, which are attempts to find two different inputs that produce the same message digest. SHA-1 is also considered to be secure against preimage attacks, which are attempts to find an input that produces a specific message digest.

SHA-1 is used in a variety of security applications, including digital signatures, message authentication codes, keyed-hash message authentication codes, and secure sockets layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols. It is also used in the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol, the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol, the Secure Electronic Transaction (SET) protocol, the Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) protocol, and the Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP).

Due to advances in cryptanalysis, SHA-1 is no longer considered secure and has been deprecated in favor of stronger algorithms such as SHA-2 and SHA-3. However, SHA-1 is still widely used in many applications and protocols, and is likely to remain in use for some time.
